SPARK Program
At MiraCosta College, we are committed to student success. With AB705 implementation, many students are placed into a course and want a chance to review previously learned concepts. The free Spark program provides focused review topics with support from the STEMLC (STEM and Math Learning Centers). Think of the spark that lights a fire - it begins small, but with a bit of help, becomes much larger. We hope the program can ignite your desire to succeed!
Evolving from the Bridge to Success in Math Program, Spark now allows students to jump into a Canvas course and review math topics as they arise during a term. Also included in the course is a separate module to prepare you for any science or math course containing student success tips, techniques to overcome anxiety, learning how to learn, and great ideas to improve your study skills.
Many students arrive at MiraCosta College and discover that they are immediately eligible to enroll in college-level math courses, but it may have been some time since the student last studied the key concepts of algebra, arithmetic, as well as applied concepts like proportions, percentages, and unit conversions. Spark is designed to increase the probability of success in their math or science courses. Best of all, this program is free!
